When your having this much fun - it's hard to call it work......

Errol Weaver
Co-owner / Parts Manager

He may be the “old man” in the shop but he’s moved quickly over the past four years, jumping into the vintage and classic BMW parts business to help customers get what they need quickly – at affordable prices. Errol likes to say that “running” Bench Mark Works is much more fun than his “previous life” of 40 years as a journalist, TV producer, advertising executive and public relations consultant.

A dedicated vintage Beemer owner and rider since 1989 when he added an R60/2 with Bender sidecar to his collection, Errol has since joined Sean to put together a “selection” of vintage and classic models ranging from an R12 to an R80. Keep an eye out for him burning around on his new conversion bIke that Bob and Sean built for him.

As a rider for almost 40 years he has explored almost every corner of North America and this year is planning rides to Mississippi, Wyoming and B.C.

Errol is a member of the Vintage BMW Motorcycle Owners Club, CVMG and BMWMOA. He lives in Milford with wife Barbara, two dogs and a selection of fine single malt scotch.

Bob Whittleton
Chief, Technical Services

Bob’s been “hands-on” Beemers for more than 30 years, not just as a mechanic (sorry – “technician”) but as a keen member of the BMW community – skilled rider, racer and rally attendee.

He’s built his own classic road racer, based on a 1974 R75 and has earned lots of hardware in VRRA events – placing second overall in two categories last year. A performance guru, Bob has built and rides one of the hottest classic Beemers on the road and he loves to share his knowledge and experience.

Over the years at Toronto-area Motorrad dealers, Bob attained just about every BMW Certification available including a Master Mechanic designation on “airheads.” His encyclopedic knowledge of OEM and aftermarket parts is impressive.

He retired early and moved to beautiful Prince Edward County, the home of Bench Mark Works. And, as part of his “retirement” – he has joined our team.

At Bench Mark Works he’s now a key player: top gun in the shop, handling everything from /5, /6 and /7 service to complete restoration projects on any “airhead,” developing performance bikes and sharing his extensive technical knowledge with customers. And, on the weekends he’s promised to maintain his winning ways in VRRA Events. In addition to the Vintage Road Racing Association, Bob is a member of the Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Group and the Vintage BMW Motorcycle Owners Club.

Bob and Marg now live in Picton and are dedicated riders. They’ve toured extensively in North America and plan to continue pounding the pavement whenever Bob can escape from the shop.

Sean Weaver
Co-owner / Restoration Mechanic

Here’s a guy who’s really dedicated to keeping Vintage and Classic BMWs on the road. In the past year alone he’s put his restoration/service skills to work for clients from British Columbia to Newfoundland.

In the shop, Sean is the pre-‘70 restoration specialist – his major interest is the real veteran Beemers – the older the better. Current projects include a 1939 R12 and a 1943 R75 military but he’s a /2 fan and there’s usually at least a few in his area of the shop.

A 20 year career as the photographer for the Art Gallery of Ontario, Sean crafted his eye for detail and perfection. During this time he always dreamt of owning his own BMW shop - that dream came true in 2004.

"If you don't do it right - it's not worth doing", is often heard coming from Sean - a true perfectionist.

Besides being an excellent mechanic he is a skilled painter and bodyman. So passionate about getting it right that he has taken the time to learn old school techniques, like the use of lead filler instead of fiberglass.

In the past couple of years due to work load Sean has limited his riding to mandatory 100 km test rides on all the bikes before they are returned to customers. This year, however, he insists on attending several weekend vintage BMW rallies.

A keen member of the BMW “community,” Sean is the Eastern Canadian Regional Director of the Vintage BMW Motorcycle Owners Club, a member of the Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Group and the BMWMOA.

He lives in Toronto with wife Teri, two-year-old twins Sierra and Spencer and “Beemer” the over- weight Boston Terrier.

Marg Whittleton
Parts / Inventory Logistics Processor

Marg is the latest member of the Benchmark team.  A long-time BMW rider, her first BMW was a 1969 R60/2. She now has a custom painted R90/6 largely converted to R90S standards, which has more than 400,000 km on the odometer.

Like Bob, she is a long-distance, high-mileage rider, touring throughout North America and enjoying attending many rallies starting in 1974.  Marg also was a long-time member of the BMW RA serving as trustee and vice-president

Marg retired from George Brown College last year, and is enjoying the ‘County’ life.  She brings computer and office expertise to the business.

Marg will be in the office several days a week handling inventory, and will be happy to assist you in obtaining parts.
